Paying for Trip.com step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- Enter the card on the order payment page. Trip.com may ask you to confirm it with 3D Secure.
- Pick the payment currency in the site header. Flights and trains are usually paid upfront, hotels upfront or at the property depending on the rate.
- For China train tickets and some flights the amount is first held and charged once the ticket is issued.
- If the ticket cannot be issued, the hold is released and the money returns to the card.
What can go wrong
If the Trip.com payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- There can be a delay between payment and ticketing — do not treat the trip as booked until the order is confirmed.
- Ticket refunds depend on the carrier's fare rules, not Trip.com, and a fee may apply.
- If the order and card currencies differ, the final amount depends on the exchange rate.
