Paying for Gemini step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- You subscribe in the Gemini app or on the Google One plans page: tap Upgrade and pick AI Plus, AI Pro or AI Ultra.
- The card is added to your Google Payments profile — the profile has a fixed country that Google checks against the card and address.
- On Android the purchase goes through Google Play, on iPhone through your Apple ID if you buy inside the app. On the web you pay Google directly.
- New accounts often get a trial month: the card is still required upfront and a small verification hold is placed.
- After the trial the plan renews monthly automatically — keep the full amount on the card by the renewal date.
What can go wrong
If the Gemini payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- Gemini does not serve users in Russia: the account may be restricted if the service decides it is used from Russia. The card does not change that.
- A Google Payments profile country cannot be changed, only a new profile created. A profile set up for Russia will not accept a foreign card.
- Price and plan availability depend on the profile country: Google AI Plus is not offered everywhere and AI Pro is priced differently by region.
- Google gives the trial once per account; trying again charges the full price straight away.
- Google Play purchases on Android follow the rules of the Play account country, not the card's.
