Paying for Expedia step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- Enter the card at checkout; hotels often offer a choice — pay now or pay later at the property.
- With Pay now Expedia charges; with Pay later the hotel itself charges in its currency at or before check-in.
- Flight payments may arrive as two transactions — from Expedia and from the airline.
- The hotel may place a deposit hold at check-in, released after check-out.
What can go wrong
If the Expedia payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- With Pay later the hotel may test the card with a small hold in advance — keep funds on the card.
- The statement amount may differ from the site price if the hotel charges in local currency.
- Non-refundable rates are not refunded on cancellation, even when paid by card.
