Paying for Amazon step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- Add the card under Your Account → Your Payments → Wallet, or at checkout.
- The card billing address and the shipping address are separate: a card with an address in its issuing country can pay for delivery to any address Amazon ships to.
- Physical items are charged when they ship, not when you order, so keep enough on the card until dispatch.
- Prime and Prime Video renew automatically; you can switch the card in membership settings before renewal.
What can go wrong
If the Amazon payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- Amazon has stated it suspended shipping goods to customers in Russia in 2022. Checkout shows whether delivery to your address is available.
- A new account with a large first order may be reviewed and temporarily locked — Amazon will ask you to confirm your details.
- If the balance is short at dispatch, the order stays pending payment.
