Paying for Microsoft 365 step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- Add the card in your Microsoft account: account.microsoft.com → Payments and billing → Payment options.
- Subscribe monthly or yearly; yearly costs about two months less.
- When you add a card, Microsoft may run a small verification authorization that is released automatically.
- Price and tax follow your Microsoft account region, which should match the card's country.
What can go wrong
If the Microsoft 365 payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- Microsoft 365 does not serve users in Russia: the account may be restricted if the service decides it is used from Russia. The card does not change that.
- Microsoft suspended new sales in Russia in 2022, so checkout is unavailable for accounts set to the Russian region.
- Changing the Microsoft account region is not instant and may be blocked while subscriptions are active.
- If a renewal fails, after a while OneDrive becomes read-only and the apps switch to view-only mode.
