Paying for Hetzner step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- At signup you choose the account currency — EUR or USD; it can't be changed later.
- Enter the card in the Hetzner Console payment section; invoices are issued monthly and charged automatically.
- Prices exclude VAT and the public IPv4 address, which is billed separately.
- A server is billed while it exists, even when powered off; a deleted server costs only the hours it ran.
What can go wrong
If the Hetzner payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- Hetzner restricts payments and accounts linked to Russia. The card solves payment, not the service's rules.
- Hetzner screens new accounts strictly: it may ask for ID or a prepayment and can decline the signup if details don't match.
- Hetzner follows EU sanctions requirements and may refuse service, as stated in its terms.
- US and Singapore prices are higher than in Europe, and the cheapest CX plans aren't available everywhere.
