Paying for Nintendo eShop step by step
Use the card like any foreign bank card:
- The store and prices follow the country in your Nintendo Account. You can change it in account settings on the Nintendo site, but only when the balance is empty.
- Enter the card at checkout in the eShop on the console or on the Nintendo website. The card address must be in the same country as the account.
- Instead of saving the card you can add funds to the eShop balance and pay from it.
- The other official route is an eShop gift code.
What can go wrong
If the Nintendo eShop payment fails, it is usually one of these:
- A card from a different country than the account is not accepted — the store checks the address.
- eShop codes are regional: a US code only works on a US account.
- Spend the remaining balance before changing the account country — the store cannot move it to another region.
